Profile

Ricardo Fernandez, "Athlete of colour".

The painting of Ricardo Fernandez, is direct, powerful and agile as the punch of a boxer or the jump of a gymnast, his brushstroke is genuine and colourful, it puts before our eyes the constant decision of the artist to achieve a realism that does not seek to be docile to the real.

There are few things more difficult for a painter than to capture movement, Fernández with the powerful colour, the expressive brushstroke, the excellent composition and drawing, wrapped in a phobic atmosphere, traps the spectator in his game.

The strength of the gesturality that his work possesses, his palette of expressive richness and the movement trapped in that instant involve the observer as if we were part of the scene itself.

How do you paint passion? How do you paint effort and training? Ricardo found a formula in his lively brush, in the overflowing colour, in the complex composition.

His profession as an architect allowed him to be always in contact with the artistic expressions, more than 20 years ago he began to dabble with emphasis in the field of painting in constant evolution in search of new and different techniques.

Ricardo Fernandez, after an academic formation had his incursion into the comic by the hand of Eugenio Zoppi, followed his training in workshops such as Hemeregildo Sabat, Garaycochea, went through the workshop of the impressionist master Oscar Crespo and the realist Ricardo Celma.

Few know that he is also the father of elite athletes, which makes his research more sincere, personal and profound than that of most of the artists who approach it.

He represented Argentina in the last Olympics with his exhibition "cual precio a la victoria" and was summoned from Russia to put his paintbrush at the disposal of the World Cup.

Fernandez chose a unique, difficult and personal path, his career is that of a true athlete of colour.

Ricardo Celma.
