Profile

Mimi Portugal was born in Argentina, grew up in different cities of that country. She lived in Egypt during her adolescence and currently lives in Buenos Aires.

Her professional career did not prevent her from developing and improving her art. Mimi studied at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where she graduated as a Cytotechnologist and as a Licentiate in Kinesiology and Physiatry. Besides being a plastic artist, she runs her own practice in Buenos Aires.

Art has been a constant in her life, influenced and inspired by multiple cultures and experiences.

Self-taught. Her training was in art workshops experimenting with different materials and techniques.

Painting in the workshops of Professor Daniel Fusaro.
Painting in the workshop of the Romulo Raggio Museum, Vicente Lopez.
Conversations "of Light and Shadow" with Master Vito Campanella.
Sumi Nagashi in the workshop of Professor Vivian Guggenheim
Watercolour painting with Professor Vivian Guggenheim, Buenos Aires-Madrid.
Her artwork with a rich palette of colours, shows objects and shapes that suggest movement or floating. She uses oils, acrylics and watercolours.

Probably her training in medical sciences related to movement, the fluidity of tissues and cells, influenced her work, as well as her travels, her contact with nature, and above all her fascination for water, in all its forms, which opened the doors to the infinite journey of watercolour.

She participates in exhibitions in museums and educational institutions.
