Profile

It all started with a job I got during school holidays in a photo studio in 1972. I found it wonderful to be able to retain fleeting moments in a light-sensitive emulsion. From there, photography became my passion: I went out every Sunday to photograph I don't know what, or what for, it was simply a need to capture scenes with social content.

I studied Technical Drawing at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Panama, but I discarded that profession when I had to exercise it, I discovered that it did not agree with my creative nature and artistic sensitivity.

In 1980 I was part of the team of Diario La Prensa, as a photojournalist.
This experience greatly enriched my skills as a photographer, and from that moment I knew that photography and I would never part.

In 1981 I became part of the team of photographers of the Presidency of the Republic of Panama, as the President's private photographer. It was another level of professional experiences, it was like living the history of my country, sitting in the front row.

In 1987 I started working at the National Bank of Panama in the Advertising Department, where my work was more focused on Corporate Photography.
This allowed me to unleash my creativity and give another twist, through my images, to the corporate approach of the bank.

In 1992 I created my advertising photography company Fonzy Creative Photographer, which works to this day.

Later, I studied and graduated as a Bachelor in Advertising at the University of Panama, I also took a postgraduate degree in Teaching in Higher Education at the Central American Institute for Administration and Supervision of Education (ICASE), which allowed me to share my knowledge and experience with new generations of photographers and graphic designers at the University of Panama, Santa María La Antigua University and the GANEXA University of Art.

I have won several awards and photography contests. I had not made any exhibition, until now, not because I did not have material to do it, if not, because I think that one should present new proposals to what other photographers have done, and I had nothing in that sense ... until now, that they I present my Digital Art which is a hybrid between photography and painting.
