He began painting at the age of 35.
His paintings are characterised by the strong contrast of colours and their visual impact.
Critics described his work as follows Camilo Villanueva, a sort of alchemist who, during the making of his work, from the depths of his being, accesses a particular state of his consciousness, which turns him into a vehicle towards his higher purpose. Through his painting, he provides energy, invites to dive and be transported, to elevate the subtle and precipitate the dense, penetrating deep spiritual messages of love and unity.

Accessing Camilo Villanueva's paintings, a sort of holograms in which each part contains the information of the whole, besides being an opportunity to enrich the spirit, is incorporated as a useful instrument because it makes the invisible visible and allows us to feel one with Creation.
Passionate about the inner world and trajectory of Xul Solar, he studied painting at the Rómulo Raggio Museum (Vicente López - Province of Buenos Aires) and specialised in the theory and practice of colour as manifested in his work.
He exhibited his paintings in Buenos Aires in the "Patio Bullrich", "Sheraton Hotel", "Conquistador Hotel" in the Sociedad Rural Argentina (Palermo), art gallery "La Maja", art gallery "Babilonia", in Punta del Este in the art gallery "Yango", in the "Colegio de Profesionales en Psicología Transpersonal de la República Argentina" who invited him to exhibit his paintings in the different congresses held, under the motto "A different artist for a different public". In the 90's he was invited by the company Cablevisión to participate with his paintings in different art programmes.
From 1997 to 2010 his life is spent in the Calamuchita Valley (Córdoba) where he has the opportunity to produce in quantity and exhibit in different places, among them in the art gallery "Posta El Sauce" in Villa General Belgrano and in the art gallery "Artempresa" (Córdoba Capital).
Back in Buenos Aires, he presented his work in several art galleries in the C.A.B.A. and in tourist hotels. He participated in Paris invited by Espacio Escarlata on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of May 2010 with three of his works in the Art Centre "La Bellvillose" located in the traditional neighbourhood "Bellville" in Paris.
Currently many of his paintings are exhibited in art portals in different countries around the world and are part of private collections in the United States of America and Australia.

The argentinian painter whose name is Camilo Villanueva investigates through his work the limits beyond the tridimensional reality because he considers that what exists is the sum of all the dimensions that concur in the different multiverses
For that reason his work stands on the dynamic of jpining shapes, matter, lines, abstraction and structures in a constant dialogue that reflects this multidimensional dynamism that he tries to exhibit naturally and simple
Thus, his creative work has as as a goal to stand among a variety of concepts that are present in a determination for change and transition from a material reality that embraces different inmaterial realities
Not only does he try to reach the inmaterial ,but also to reflect all that exists beyond the limits ,without forgetting the basis that nourishes us
That is why in his paintings a great amount of shapes , structures, and lines are present that define a deep look, which really comprehends the very existence in itself in the whole universe and beyond what really exists.
His contribution to contemporary painting is based on showing everything starting from the evidence of this change at a point when time on the planet earth seems to pass much faster and all takes place at an unusual rythm . It is for this particular reason that his actual challenge is supported by the new possibilities that the progress of science, the evidence of the essence, as well as realizing the complexity of everything that surrounds us offers and gives shape to our inner self
