Profile

I am Adriana Guillén, architect and visual artist. I studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Mendoza as an architect.

I have always loved art, since I was a child, and I practised it in different ways throughout my life, in a self-taught way. I practiced my profession as an architect for some years and at the same time I pursued my dream of realizing myself as an artist.

At one point in my life I decided to dedicate myself completely to art and I began my studies in the workshop of Mauro Cano, a renowned artist from Mendoza, to study the human figure, which would become the main theme of my works, I continued my research with different techniques such as: graphite, pastel, chalk on paper, acrylic and oil, until I found my ideal means of expression in the latter.

‘My works, with an autobiographical content, travel through a surreal and dreamlike world, in a subtle and evocative, yet hopeful way. With a nostalgic touch, but with a strong and dramatic projection into the future, I choose to dream without darkness. Transparencies vibrate in my work, which despite the chosen colours are intense. The images are part of a visual puzzle, where the different pieces intertwine to tell a story or transmit a message addressed to the deepest part of each person’.

I have participated in several group shows and one solo exhibition:
